We get a lot of people asking, what does it take to be a consultant? What do you really need to do to be a good consultant? I'll tell you the first characteristic of a good consultant, you will be surprised. It's simply having a good self-image. Here's why.
As a consultant, you're going to be above everybody else in your profession. I don't care if you're a realtor or a plumber or who you are, you're going to be above the rest when you're a consultant. You have to have the self-image that says, "I am good enough to be at the top, good enough to be a leader."
If you don't have a good self-image, you probably won't ever go into consulting. If you do have a good self-image, I think you'll become a very good consultant.
